WHY YOU’RE PASSING GAS MORE THAN 25 TIMES A DAY

If you’re releasing gas more than 25 times a day, especially if it’s accompanied by bloating, stomach pain, weird smells, or sudden bathroom changes, your body is not just being “normal” — it’s sending a message.

Most people fart between 5–15 times a day. Once you’re hitting 20–30 or more, something deeper is going on. And it usually points to one of these hidden causes:

1. Your gut bacteria are out of balance
When bad bacteria overpower the good ones, digestion becomes chaotic — causing excessive gas, pressure, and unpredictable bowel movements. This is one of the most common reasons.

2. You’re not digesting certain foods properly
Dairy, gluten, carbs, artificial sweeteners, beans, onions, garlic, and high-fiber foods can create excessive fermentation. If certain foods trigger more gas, your body is reacting to them.

3. You may have a food intolerance
Lactose intolerance and fructose malabsorption are the top triggers. Many people develop these as adults without realizing it.

4. Too much swallowed air
Chewing gum, drinking carbonated drinks, eating too fast, or smoking floods the digestive system with air, which comes back out later.

5. A sign of inflammation or infection
If the gas comes with sharp cramps, fever, nausea, or diarrhea, your gut might be fighting inflammation, a minor infection, or IBS-related irritation.

6. Constipation traps gas inside
When stool stays in the colon too long, it creates a build-up of pressure and fermentation — which can easily push you past 25+ gas releases a day.

7. Rarely, it can signal something more serious
Chronic unexplained gas + pain + sudden weight loss should never be ignored.

If someone is consistently farting more than 25 times daily, their body is trying to tell them that digestion isn’t working smoothly — and the clue is almost always in the gut.
