David Letterman’s Creepiest Question Left Jennifer Aniston Visibly Uncomfortable

A resurfaced interview clip from the late 1990s has fans in shock—and for good reason. During a 1998 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, actress Jennifer Aniston was promoting The Object of My Affection when things took an unexpectedly bizarre turn.

After sharing an anecdote about running into fans in a steam room, Letterman mischievously leaned in and said, “Forgive me if this is rude, I just want to try one thing.” What followed wasn’t a joke—he grabbed a strand of Aniston’s hair and sucked on it while leaning uncomfortably close. He then handed her a tissue so she could wipe his saliva from her hair. Aniston, ever professional, laughed nervously—but her discomfort was clear.

Letterman tried to brush it off, joking with the audience, “People are horrified by that … You ruined it for me. Are you happy?” But in hindsight, viewers have widely condemned the moment as inappropriate and invasive—especially by today’s standards.
