Fans were caught off guard when Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton revealed that they are working together on an unexpected new project—not music, but television.

The couple announced they will be executive producers of a bold reimagining of The Wizard of Oz for Prime Video. The series, titled Dorothy, will reframe the classic tale in a modern setting with a musical twist.

Instead of the familiar yellow brick road of Kansas, this story unfolds in contemporary Manhattan, with Dorothy’s journey symbolizing the challenges and triumphs of adolescence. The show will blend coming-of-age themes with music and drama, offering a fresh take on one of the most beloved stories of all time.

While Gwen and Blake won’t be writing the series themselves, their creative influence will shape its direction. Known for her unique artistic vision and his deep musical roots, fans can expect their fingerprints all over the project’s tone and sound.

The series is still in early development, and no release date has been confirmed yet. But the announcement has already sparked major excitement, as fans can’t wait to see how the superstar couple brings this new Oz to life.
